Lecithin

Lecithin refers to a class of chemical compounds that is present in plants and in animal tissues (mostly in egg yolk). They can be either liquid or solid, and ranges in colour from yellow to dark brown. Phospholipids are its main component.
Lecithin (which comes from the Greek word "lekithos" = egg yolk) owes its name to the fact that it was isolated for the first time from an egg yolk.
Soy oil contains the highest amounts of lecithin and phosphatides of all vegetable oils.
Soy lecithin is used in cosmetics for its soothing and moisturizing properties.
