Nettle

Nettle, also known as stinging nettle, (Urtica dioica L.) is a perennial herbaceous plant that belongs to the genus Urtica. It’s native to Europe, Asia and the northern regions of Africa and America. The stem and leaves are covered with hairs that, when touched, expel a fluid that causes the skin to itch (both humans and animals). Its name probably comes from the Latin word "urere" which means “burn”, the effect it has when it causes an irritation. The plant often used in food dishes, but is mostly known for it medicinal properties. Its extract acts as a natural detoxifier, a diuretic and favours upper respiratory tract and prostate function.
