Vitamin E

Vitamin E, or Tocopherol, is a fat-soluble vitamin, that is soluble in fats and oils. It is made up by a group of compounds called tocopherols and tocotrienols. The name "tocopherol" is derived from the Greek word "tocos", birth, and "pherein", carry on. This name was given to highlight its essential role in reproduction. The main sources of Vitamin E are found in vegetable oils (peanut, soybean, corn, palm, sunflower, etc.) and wheat germ; Tocopherol can also be found in nuts, seeds, whole grain cereals and leafy green vegetables. Vitamin E helps to protect cells from oxidative stress.
