Mallow

Mallow (Malva sylvestris L.) belongs to the Malvaceae family. It probably comes from Northern Africa (Mauritian) and/or Southern Europe and then later spread and cultivated in all subtropical regions. It’s used in herbal medicines because it’s particularly rich in mucilage. Its name probably comes from the Greek word "malakos", which means “soft” because of its soothing properties. Some people relate to the Latin term “mollit alvum” because it refers to the same properties, which means “softens the belly.” Mallow promotes intestinal transit regularity, normal and natural stool consistency and volume, bronchial secretion fluidity. It soothes the digestive system.
