Magnesium

Magnesium is a chemical element, atomic number 12, its symbol is Mg. It’s the eighth most abundant element in nature, constitutes about 2% of the earth's crust and is the third most abundant element dissolved in seawater. In nature it is never by itself, it is always combined with other elements. It comes from the Greek word for a prefecture of Thessaly that is called Magnesia. The term "magnesia" used to be attributed to a number of substances - similar in texture and color - that are extracted in city territories. Not only is Magnesium found in rocks and sea water, it’s also found in plants and animals, and is an essential element. It’s used as a component in supplements because it helps maintain bone and tooth health, reduces tiredness and fatigue, keeps electrolytes balanced, maintains energy levels, keeps the nervous system and muscles functioning properly, promotes protein synthesis and healthy psychological functioning.
