Phaseolamin

Phaseolamin is a glycoprotein obtained from white bean pods (Phaseolus vulgaris). It inhibits the alpha-amylase, pancreatic enzyme that converts starch of complex carbohydrates (like bread and pasta) into simple sugars. It is used in herbal medicine because it promotes body fluid drainage and helps metabolize carbohydrates.
