Berberine can be found in some plants of the Berberidaceae family (Berberis vulgaris, Berberis aquifolium, Iodendrom amurense, Berberis aristata). Depending on the plant, berberine can be mainly localized in the roots or rhizomes or in the bark (in different concentrations).
