Taurine

Taurine is an acidic chemical abundantly found in many tissues of various animals, including humans. It is also found in some bacterial species, in more modest amounts, but not in plants. It is an amine with a sulfonic acid group function. The name Taurine comes from Taurus, or bull, because it was originally isolated from bull bile. It is an amino acid naturally found in breast milk.
