Nopal

Nopal (Opuntia streptacantha or Opuntia Ficus Indica) is a cactus that belongs to the cacti family. This plant is native of Mexico and southwestern United States, but is also found in Mediterranean countries. It prefers dry, arid, hot climates. It’s a succulent plant that can live longer than 50 years and can reach 5 meters in height.
The term Nopal also refers to the young segments of the plant that are used in Mexican cuisine (mostly salads).
The name Nopal comes from the word, "Nahuatl", which means leaves, or "nochtli", leaf.
Nopal's dry extract helps keep body weight balanced, while it modulates and limits the absorption of nutrients. It helps keep blood sugar levels balanced and reduces appetite.
