Mullein: the plant that clears the airways

Mullein (Verbascum thapsus L.) is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Scrophulariaceae family. It’s native to Europe and Asia, but is also present in Italy. It belongs to the genus Verbascum, which includes about 30 species of perennial and annual herbaceous plants. Verbascum is derived from the word "virb rod". It grows to be 80-150 cm high, with an erect stem that is sometimes branched; its yellow flowers are gathered in a big and long ear. It grows in vacant lots, on slopes and in rubbles. Mullein is used in herbal medicine because it improves respiratory mucosa function.
