Devil's claw

Devil's Claw is the common name for Harpagophytum (Harpagophytum procumbens), a perennial plant found in southwest Africa, the Kalahari Desert, Namibia and Madagascar. The name Devil's Claw comes from the appendages characterizing its fruits, equipped with sturdy hooks that, when penetrating the bodies and limbs of animals, cause serious wounds, forcing them into a “devilish” dance.
In phytotherapy, the secondary roots, rich in natural compounds called harpagosides, are beneficial for joint function. Devil's claw is used in herbal medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties, especially as a natural remedy for joint issues and muscle pain.
