How thyme is used in herbal medicine

Thyme (Tymus L.) is a genus of flowering plants that belong to the Lamiaceae family. It is a shrub-like plant that grows up to 50 cm high, with a trunk that makes very compact shrubs. The leaves are small and elongated and the flowers are a pinkish-white colour that get pollinated by insects, especially bees. It is considered an aromatic plant and its scientific name comes from the Greek words "strength and courage" because it reawakens these qualities in those who smell its aromatic fragrance. Thyme extract is used in herbal medicine because it favours bronchial secretion fluidity and contributes to nose and throat health. Additionally, it’s an antioxidant.
