Iodine

Iodine is a chemical element, whose atomic number is 53 and whose symbol is I. Its name comes from a Greek word that means "purple" or "lilac", because of the colour of its vapors. It’s an element involved in the metabolism of many living beings, including humans. In humans, Iodine contributes to the normal thyroid hormone production and normal thyroid function; additionally, it contributes to normal cognitive function, normal energy levels, normal nervous system functioning and keeps skin healthy.
