Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus) is a genus of evergreen trees that originates from Oceania (Australia, Tasmania and New Guinea) and belongs to the Mirtaceae family. They’ve spread throughout central and southern Italy, especially in the Pontine Marshes where now grow wild. The name Eucalyptus comes from a Greek word that means "well hidden", because the petals hide part of the flower. Its essential oil is usually extracted from the leaves and used in phytotherapy for its well known balsamic effect, which is soothing on the oropharyngeal mucosa and the tone of voice.
