Black Cohosh

Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa L.) belongs to the Ranunculaceae family and is widespread in North America. It’s a herbaceous perennial plant that can grow to be about 3 meters in height. Its name refers to the unpleasant smell of its flowers, which ward off insects. It was used for centuries by the Native Americans for its many beneficial properties, some of which have now been proven: the rhizome and root extracts help relieve menopausal and menstrual cycle symptoms.
